The majority of my lessons in September are reviewing concepts and repertoire from the previous year. It is a great time for students to play some of their favorite games and activities! Reviewing and "picking up" where we left off from the previous year is so important. We use and build on each skill little by little so it is imperative that their foundation is solid. I am beginning to see the fruits of my labor using the Kodaly method in my lower grades! Introducing new skills to my K-2 is a piece of cake!

I am the president of our local Orff chapter and we hosted a workshop with Dr. Patrick Ware last Saturday. He has published many works and books with Beatin' Path Publications and presents workshops all over the country. Our Orff organization is meant to provide support to local music educators. We've had all kinds of professional development sessions. Ours was a great workshop and I loved having the chance to sit down and discuss classroom ideas and musical concepts with Patrick.

Miss ReynaI grew up in Brownsville, TX and graduated from Homer Hanna High School. I have loved singing ever since I joined choir in 5th grade. After years of singing in choir, my hard work payed off with a scholarship to the University of Texas at Brownsville. I graduated in Spring 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education EC-12, with an emphasis in Voice.I am a fully certified Kodaly teacher and looking to get my second certification in the Orff-Schulwerk process. I am qualified to teach all music to all grades (K-12) but I love the elementary level. Archives
